MoneyMatch operates a currency exchange platform that focuses on community building with technology to bridge the gap and connect individuals who need to exchange foreign currency. MoneyMatch creates opportunities for entrepreneurs to trade (buy/sell) currencies without an intermediary among themselves with the help of the online platform it provides. MoneyMatch's vision is to exploit inefficiencies within the current financial system, disintermediate the industry and liberate the consumer. They secured a funding of $150,000 from Kosciuszko Holdings to roll out their currency exchange platform and they began operating with Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator since January 2015 under the supervision of tech accelerator Watchtower and Friends (WTF).
Ittify is a cloud-based platform that generate authentic social reviews to build customer trust and increase awareness by using relevant influencers for your brand needs. Throughout its development, Ittify has built up to 400 existing influencers and 20 ready-brands. Additionally, the company is building the first Creators Academy in Malaysia to groom influencers to become more creative and attractive through workshops and engaging programmes. Ittify has experience working with well-known companies such as Maybank, Kanebo, Watsons, Reckitt Benckiser, & AirAsia.
Founded in September 2014, co-founded by Goh Chee Hau and Nadhir Ashafiq, The Lorry Online Sdn Bhd was an idea to provide on-demand transportation services throughout Malaysia, from household appliances to commercial cargo. It is an online-based platform to make it easier and faster for people to book a lorry. Along the way, TheLorry received the funding through the Cyberview Living Lab Accelerator programme under WatchTower and Friends Accelerator which boosted business. Led by SPH Media Fund and participation from Silicon Valley-based Elixir Capital, the company successfully raised US$1.5 million (RM6.6 million) in Series A round. TheLorry will continue to expand as they plan to expand their business across Asia.
From web-based to a user-friendly and fast growing mobile app, Tumpang (formerly known as BUSttle), deliver as an efficient and affordable public transport services provider. To date, they have gathered 900 registered users, 40% return customers and over 500 rides. Previously, Tumpang worked with Cyberview and Microsoft’s Imagine Cup, where Tumpang (BUSttle) were the official transport for the participants from Tune Hotel to MMU and back, together with 120 rides for attendees. Think shuttle, remember Tumpang.
Baucar, which stands for voucher in Bahasa Malaysia is a shopping app created that notifies users of on-going deals. Created by local developer, Arsyan Ismail, the app takes advantage of beacons, a device that uses low-energy Bluetooth wireless technology to detect Baucar users when they are close to a shop to push relevant deals and promotions on their phones. As a pilot test, 85 beacons were deployed in Shaftsbury Square Cyberjaya to broadcast latest promotions to its visitors. The startup is expected to expand their service to more malls and hotels in the future.
Cohesive Mobility Solution or “COMOS” is a company that provides E-Mobility services. It is their game to promote sustainable green environment by providing smart connectivity and mobility solution. In November 2015, Cyberview teamed up with COMOS in providing more charging stations for their electric vehicles throughout the city. Cyberview and MdeC are some of the organisations that are adopting the Renault Zoe all-electric car to promote the use of Electric Vehicles in Cyberjaya. An eco-friendly environment is to be preserved and maintained in Cyberjaya.
GTC Global Sdn Bhd, parked under TM Group, is a specialist in security services. GTC provides CCTV and surveillance system, building management system and network and broadband solution with safety as its upmost importance. In relation with the smart city initiatives, Cyberview authorized a state-of-the-art CCTV system incorporated with Malaysia’s Emergency Response System (MERS999), a national emergency call service system to guard the safety of the Cyberjaya community which consists of locals and expats.
Another collaboration between Cyberview and TM’s Intelsec aims to improve traffic management through the implementation of Internet of Things (IoT). The first phase of the project covers Persiaran Multimedia where the traffic lights are upgraded with LTE-equipped controllers that run video cameras with systematic capabilities. The cameras can analyze the traffic condition and intelligently direct traffic at the intersection so that your waiting time at traffic lights will be significantly reduced. After the pilot tests, the same system is likely to be rolled out in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Iskandar Region.
Imagine being able to access to Wi-Fi anytime, anywhere. This is what the pilot project by TM’s Intelsec envisions. A free Wi-Fi for the thriving community wherever you go in Cyberjaya. Wi-Fi modems to provide accessible “Wireless Cyberjaya” are currently available at five different locations throughout Cyberjaya and it can be accessed by everyone for free with the speed of 5mbsp. The next phases are expected to expand the locations and coverage of this service, thus improving digital connectivity in Cyberjaya.
The birth of Reneon Technologies Sdn Bhd in 2012 comes from two young ambitious entrepreneurs, Ashwin Menon and Dinesh Selvamurthy. Reneon operates as an electrical engineering start-up company that focuses on saving and maximizing energy costs. Their pilot project in Cyberjaya focused on wireless energy management which enabled users to view real-time electricity consumption based on data collected from installed wireless sensors. Through this project, Cyberjaya gets to improve supply power quality and protect against shattering voltage spikes. An energy saving city is a smart city!
How annoying and time consuming is looking for a parking space for lunch? This was how the Smart Parking pilot test came into the picture. Yet another collaboration with TM’s Intelesec, this is a way to optimize parking space usage while improving traffic flow. Currently tested at Sports Arena Cyberjaya, smart parking allows drivers to track available parking spots from their smartphones even before arriving. Lesser time looking for parking, more time to shop and dine!
